A BESPOKE SILHOUETTE PORTRAIT COMMISSION

As we approach the festive season, I am delighted to present a distinctive opportunity from Lele Projects: a bespoke silhouette-portrait commission by David McDermott, crafted as a lasting and personal gift for a loved one.
With a practice spanning more than four decades, David McDermott has long refined the art of the silhouette, a genre historically cherished for its intimacy, poise and familial resonance. His recent solo work builds on this deep lineage, offering collectors an elegant yet personal statement carved in light and shadow.
Each commission is realised on the finest materials: the canvas is supported by hand-tacked lead-gesso over French rabbit-skin glue on Italian linen, mounted on impeccably stained solid wood which highlights the natural grain. The finished format is 60 × 45 cm for a single subject, or 120 × 90 cm when capturing a family of four.

The sitting
For those commissioning a work David will be in Zürich and St. Moritz in January and February. David will personally trace both profiles of the sitter by candle-light in the evening studio setting. An evocative performative moment, adding further rarity and charm to each work. The result is not merely a portrait but a crafted ritual of presence and light.
